In His Presence – Finding Rest in the Midst

Over the past few months, you have been reading on on this blog about the change in our lives. Simply put, sometimes we have to change in order to see results. I am not satisfied with just being mediocre in life. When God has called you to do something there are times when God will call you to simply wait.

“Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.”
-Psalms 37:7

In the changes that we have seen in our lives, we have had to learn the art of patience.  There has been a lot of work behind the scenes put into making things happen and I could completely go out tomorrow to borrow all the money that I would ever need to make these things work. I don’t think that if I went outside of the will of God that I wouldn’t see the fruit of my labor.

God will often call you to be still and wait for Him to respond to the situation. I recall a time when I passed the building that I wanted to buy to put our businesses in. I heard in my heart these words; “It must be done in a way where you cannot get the credit or the glory. People will surely say ‘Look what the Lord has done!” I have, to be honest, say that this blows my mind. If this is what the Lord is going to do then it must be awesome.

Sara and I got to a point where we just long so much for it be done that when we saw others prospering, it hurt our hearts.

“Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper— it only leads to harm. For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land. Soon the wicked will disappear. Though you look for them, they will be gone.”
-Psalms 37:8-10

How much easier would it have been for us to throw up our hands and tell God just what we thought because we saw others prospering in their dream? It’s hard. Believe me, it is hard. It will probably be the hardest thing that you have ever done. But to wait upon the Lord while watching others prosper, it can become even more difficult. Don’t lose heart (Galatians 6:9). Keep focusing on what God is going to do.

The lowly will possess the land and will live in peace and prosperity.
-Psalms 37:11

God is faithful. He will complete what He has started. He will provide a way where there seems to be no way. Friend, when you are going through the valley, trust in Him and rest in His presence. Once we do that, we will find that God is our ultimate Father who has the best in store for us and can’t wait to pour out His blessings on our lives.
